Weekend Wrap-Up by Eddie

For a moment only John Henry Erickson knew that the game was over. The rest of us saw a ball headed for the porch. The rest of us saw a ball that John Henry had caught a dozen times before. But the ball found a dark spot, hidden from the lights, just before it found the stands. And at that instant only John Henry Erickson knew that his leaping attempt would land without the ball, that there was a new champion.

What a splendid game. I could watch it over again and then again.…

9 July, 2013

Just got to the luxurious Comfort Inn Suites(located in beautiful Newville, WI), I am sitting poolside as Trennie swims off the morning sweat(built up from his work at The Compound & this Wisco humidity(actually he didn't do very much, besides close all of Tom and Carol's doors, so the sweat was mainly from the Wisconsin humidity)).

Anyway, today was more of a thinking day. As we call it "Bosses doing boss work". We got the soda, Gatorade,…

I can tell Stoopball week is near. Every time I see Tom(which is almost daily at this point of the season), he tells me "I am worried, we aint going to get this shit done in time".....to be honest, we never get all the shit done in time.

We have lots of new items in the Pro-Shop, I sure hope Alison can find enough room for everything. I know we have said this already....but the calendar looks amazing. They contain, The 2014 Stoopball date and currently there are only 45…

A Few Words By Our Pal Eddie

Stoopball: 2012

You know, I started to write this quite some time ago but found that so much went on at this year’s SLA Championships that it was difficult to focus. I just kept smiling instead of writing, just kept thinking of the food and Family League and Ella and all you amazing people. We are blessed, my friends, truly blessed to have an annual gathering with so many facets, so rich in friendship. So rich in fact, that it’s impossible to focus on just one…

Second Day of Kid's Camp

Today it was only 105. Made work at the Compound very difficult. Aaron again stepped up as "Camper of the Day". With the late arrival of "Kid Hammer". Aaron had to take on the task of foreman for latest addition to the sandbox. Shaun did sneak in near the end, to see the final stages of the project completed. I am sure the new helicopter teeter totter will be a big hit this weekend. Shaun and Aaron said they had alot of fun on it, when they broke it in.

First day of Kid's Camp

With only 1 camper, it was really easy to divey up the chores. Aaron "The Forever Kid" O'Bel was able to get the swimming pool up, got the lights going, and everything else on his Monday list done very promptly today. He seems to be the top candidate for Camper of the Year. The race will heat up on Tuesday though,  when Shaun "Kid Hammer" Puzio arrives at the compound to start his list!!!!!

FIRE SAFETY NOTICE FOR SLA WEEKEND

Craig,
I was going to send an email to you on a couple things and since you sent this out maybe this will give people time to think about the extreme fire danger we are in.
The dry conditions need to be addressed before everything starts. We have had standing green crop field burning over the past week. It does not look like we will see enough rain to make it any different by the…

Family League

Hey Stoopballers!

It’s that time of year again. Just a couple of weeks to go before the Championships on July 21st.

As you already know we are adding a “Family League” to the Games this year. I’ll just touch on the reasoning behind it and then give you some guidelines.

In the past couple of years we have let the “twelve year old” rule slip. We’ve allowed smaller kids to play in the Big Leagues. This was easy to do since we all love…

Winter Meetings

3 December, 2011

People,

Well the Winter Meetings have come and gone for another year. No major trades to report as of yet, but there were some a number of conversations about some of the free agents that will be available. Ageless Steve Phelan....who has been playing for the Detroit Risers for over 30 years is trying to work a deal to play another year and then move up to the front office, the Risers farm system is very young but with Steve’s background he may be the perfect…

Winter Meetings

8 November, 2011

The stately Tamaraack Pines have begun to turn the most beautiful yellow brown you can imagine. This is when we know autumn is here. All the other trees except the willow have shed their leaves, the grass is still green but winter is slowly turning the corner and coming up Main St

It’s rainy and cold here at World Headquarters. As November begins it’s blustery beat down, we are trying to complete the last of this season’s improvements to our…

Age

23 June, 2011

Folks,

It's that time of the year, when teams start forming for the SLA World Championships. I wanted to pass on a reminder of the age restrictions on playing in the "Big Leagues". Players must at least 12 years old to play with the adults. This is for the physical and mental safety of our youths(you may ask mental....there is a lot of pressure trying to hit with runner's in scoring when you are in the "Bigs").

If this… Continue
